It is the aim of the organizers to ensure that the 2010 UCI BMX World Championships is not only a fantastic sporting event, but provides an experience to everyone that attends the event – either as a competitor, spectator or part of the support crews.
To this end, a number of functions and activities have been planned to take place during the event, and the details follow.
Opening Ceremony & Pasta Party

Venue: Main Arena, Royal Show Grounds, Pietermaritzburg
The Opening Ceremony will be the official start of the event where the official welcome will be made to all participants and their support crews. The event will include entertainment and activities that will expose the rest of the world to the spirit of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa, and all that this wonderful land has to offer its visitors. The ceremony will also include a “Parade of Champions” where all winners of their respective categories from the 2009 UCI BMX World Championships in Adelaide will be introduced as they prepare to defend their titles.
The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a Pasta Party and musical entertainment.
